HITCHCOCK — Mr. Leroy Douglas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2005, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City at the age of 75.

Mr. Douglas was born September 11, 1929, in Wharton, Texas. He was a retired laborer of Labor Local #116 in Texas City and was presently working in landscaping. He was a member of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church in (East) Texas City where he served in the Male Chorus; Brotherhood and was on trial for a Deacon.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Douglas and Elcenia Johnson; a sister, Ethel B. Johnson; and two brothers, Manuel Scott and Henry Johnson.

Left to cherish his memories are his devoted wife, Willie Mae Douglas of Hitchcock; two daughters, Gloria Smith of Texas City and Nodie Melvin of Houston; three sisters, Lillie Mae Jackson of Los Angeles, California, Nodie (Archie) Ruckett and Minnie Lee Douglas both of Texas City; step-children, Sterling (Sheila) Collins of Junction City, Kansas, Bernadette (Roy) Harness, Lena Collins, Lois Holiday all of Texas City and Frank (Lynn) Holiday of Kansas City, Kansas; seven grandchildren; a devoted grandson, Michael Collins, devoted nephew, Deloyd Baines, devoted friend, Willie Alexander; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, his Greater Macedonia Church Family and many friends.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2005, at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in La Marque followed by a wake from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church, 401 - 3rd Avenue North in Texas City with Pastor Robert Maxey, officiating.

Burial will follow at Mainland Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock.
