Inez Whittaker Taylor, 88, of Midland, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Nottingham Place of Midland.

She was born on March 22, 1922 in Thompsonville, daughter of the late Abra and Irene (Trowbridge) Henry.

Inez was married to Donald Whittaker. He predeceased her in 1983. She then married her lifelong friend, Alfred Taylor, of Beaverton. He predeceased her in 2008. She was also predeceased by her stepson, Howard Stark, in 2008.

Inez was a lifelong member of the Midland Eagles and a longstanding member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. She was a waitress and bartender for many years in the Midland area and had worked at the Old Brown Derby, Holiday Inn and the Melting Pot (Shirlene's Restaurant).

Inez will be remembered for her warm smile and storytelling.

Inez is survived by one stepdaughter, Joanne and Dan Crampton; sister, Netta and Wesley Gillette; four stepgrandsons and their families; and by nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral and committal services will take place today, at 4 p.m., from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. Pastor Don Duford will officiate. Burial will be in Midland City Cemetery.

Inez's family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2-4 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Nottingham of Midland or Southern Care Hospice.
