Ruth Irene Brant-Croal passed on last Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Oro Valley Hospital in Oro Valley, AZ.

Ruth was born in Fargo, ND, on March 25, 1921, the only daughter of Emil and Alma Brant. She graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1939 as "Most Representative Girl", and went on to graduate from Barnard College, NYC, in 1943 as a Phi Beta Kappa. Her remarkable talents in all things creative led her to a writing and editing career with National OC Comics, NYC. Ruth returned to Fargo in 1959 to assist her mother Alma and help raise her niece, Marnee Brant. Ruth was a devoted nurturer, caregiver and mother figure. Ruth married the love of her life Ralph Francis Croal of Fargo and Tucson later in life. They made their home in Sun City, Oro Valley, AZ.

Ruth was a vital and amazing woman, interested in her community, her country and our world. She never stopped reading or learning or loving life. She leaves an enormous hole in the lives of the many family members and friends who adored her.

She is survived by her beloved niece and nephew Marnee and Christopher Brant (Christine), her treasured grandchildren Nicholas and Laura Moen, her brother Gordon Brant (Marilyn), great nephews Shaun and Michael Brant, great nieces Michelle and Nicole Brant, and cousin Joann Erickson.
