The world lost a great man on Thursday, May 16th, when Michael Wilbur Rouse went to the great fishing hole in the sky. We will come together to honor him with a celebration of life service on Monday, May 20th at 7 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 4-7 pm prior to the celebration on Monday. In keeping with his wishes and generous spirit his body has been donated to the University of Iowa for scientific purposes. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clarence Library Building Fund or Cedar County Volunteer Services.

Michael was born February 18, 1935, in Oxford Junction, Iowa. He was the son of Chester Whipple and Florence Francis Gerlich Rouse. He was a 1952 graduate of Clarence High School. Michael served in the US Army from 1955-1957. He was united in marriage to Karolyn Ruth Hoeye in 1988 at the Red Oak Church in Tipton.

Michael worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Stanwood and Tipton Lions and Lowden Post #16 Amvets.

Michael is loved and survived by his wife, Karolyn Rouse of Clarence; daughters, Kim Paulson of Eugene, Oregon and Marlo (William) Peterson of Pleasant Hill; sons, Todd (Sheila) Rouse of Olin, Tim (Monica) Rouse of Durant, Tyler (Deb) Rouse of Mechanicsville, Kevin (Jill) Paulson of Solon, Galyn (Robyn) Paulson of Roseburg, Oregon; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Anne Fetz of Sioux City, Jean (Donald) Maher of Tipton, Gladys (Ronny) Hurtis of Macon, Georgia; and brothers, Raymond (Kathy) Rouse of Tipton, and Thomas (Ramona) Rouse and John (Mary Jo) Rouse both of Princeton, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Chester; sisters, Mary Brinkman and Betty Christopherson; and son, Shawn Paulson.
