Daniel passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Silvercrest, Davenport.

Daniel Joseph Czolgosz was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio, a son of Frank and Kathryn (Kujawa) Czolgosz. He married Virginia Ewanski on Oct. 25, 1950, in Toledo. He worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1983.
He received his degree in electrical engineering from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was known as the "neighborhood walker," walking to and from Holy Family Church to the Duck Creek walking trail.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of Davenport; daughters, Mary Czolgosz of Indianapolis; Annie (James) Straube of Franksville, Wis.; Margaret (Rex) Johnsen of Cordova, Ill.; Elizabeth (Greg) Hayman of Davenport, and Christine (James) Srb of Omaha, Neb.; sons, Daniel (Theresa) Czolgosz of Wildwood, Mo., and Joseph (Cindy) Czolgosz of Woodhull, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Felice Steigel of Temperance, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Paul Czolgosz; grandson, Kristopher Hayman; sisters, Esther Lewan and Mary Ann Szoda, and brother, Frank Czolgosz.
