A Celebration of Life for Doris Louise Birrell, 92, of Vacaville will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home. Pastor Vic Jenkins of Unity Church of the Valley will officiate. Interment will be private in East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Sacramento.

Mrs. Birrell died Sept. 15, 2004, at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Vallejo following a brief illness.

Born May 12, 1912, in Denver, Colo, she had been a resident of Vacaville for 51 years.

She was a homemaker all her adult life; was a teacher of dressmaking and sewing, arts and crafts; and was a graduate of Southern University of Idaho.

She was a very prominent figure in Republican circles, and was a member of the Vacaville Art League and the Vacaville Museum. She also was able to travel the world, and was a devoted wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Donald R. "Don" Birrell of Vacaville; daughters Nancy and Oliver Ford of County Wexford, Ireland, and Lynne Gough of Sacramento; sons, John W. Mack of Roseville and Dean Birrell of Windsor; sister Jane Stirling of Pocatello, Idaho; sister-in-law Georgia Birrell of Sacramento; granddaughters Debbie Mack of Tracy and Heather Rigor of Woodland; great-grandchildren Joseph Rigor and Lilly Rigor, and Andrew Birrell and Caitlin Birrell; nephew Steve Amphlett of Vacaville; and niece Mary Jane Amphlett-Scannell of Vacaville.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Birrell's name to the Vacaville Museum, 213 Buck Ave., Vacaville, 95688.
