Maxine Ward, 79, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. She was born Dec. 24, 1922, in Mount Vernon, Ill. A resident for 17 years, she was a retired executive secretary. She is survived by two daughters, Carole Thiel of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Patty Beers of Reno; one son, David Michael Ward of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 2 p.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
