Jay Smith Ovard passed away peacefully in his home on May 15, 2013. Born May 9, 1927, in Paris, Idaho.
He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He had a love for sports and the outdoors. Married Loray Hawthorne, later divorced. Married Ray Fuller, later divorced. Married Raona Armstrong Ovard. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 22, 2000.
Preceded in death by his parents, Drucilla Passey and Shiblon S. Ovard; wife, Raona Armstrong Ovard; and step-son, Ronald W. Henderson. Survived by daughters, Diane Maybury, Cathy M. Lambert (Earnie); sons, DeVon Jay Ovard, Steve L. Henderson (Charlotte), Mark Henderson (Helene); 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013, 3:00 p.m. at the Murray City Cemetery, 5600 South Vine Street, Murray. A viewing will be held Saturday, May 18, from 2:00-2:45 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, prior to services.
