Charles G. DePriest, 74, of Abilene, Texas died Monday, January 24, 2000 at his home.
Born in Wardell, Mo., he was the son of the late Howard DePriest and Pearl DePriest. He was also preceded in death by three siblings: James DePriest, Robin DePriest and Howard DePriest Jr.
Mr. DePriest served in the United States Army during World War II. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Arkansas State University in 1949 and a Master of Arts Degree from Memphis state University in 1961. A former Vocational Agriculture teacher, he was a residential developer and construction contractor. He was a home builder in Lufkin, Texas from 1975 to 1998 when he moved to Abilene. He raised Tennessee Walking Horses and participated in Walking Horse competitions.
Charles was united in marriage to Marcella Hulsman on July 10, 1953 in Memphis.
Mr. DePriest leaves his wife, Marcella DePriest of Abilene; one son, Jerry DePriest, M.D., of Abilene; one brother, Larry DePriest of Olive Branch, Miss., and two sisters: Ruby Gruenewald and Cleo Buzzard of Memphis.
Funeral services for Mr. DePriest were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2000 at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, Texas, with Rev. Scott Mayer officiating.
Burial was at the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
