Find A Gravers who are vocal in their disapproval of documents in the photo section of memorials will probably approve of the tombstone photo (which shows a FALSE year of birth for Sarah) and disapprove of the census images which prove a TRUE year of birth for her.
The 1850 census, as the caption for the 1850 image at right states, indicates she was born 23 July 1841.
The 1860 census, taken in Aug 1860, after her birthday, shows her as 18, which would indicate a July 1842 date of birth. Because the census asked for a list of residents of the household as of 1 June 1860, possibly someone thought the age also should be "as of 1 June," which would have made "18" correct for Sarah even though she turned 19 between 1 June and the August census taker's visit.

The 1880 census, taken in Jun 1880, before her birthday, correctly shows her as 38.
