William David Merchant was born in 1948 in the Shiloh Community of Lamar County, Alabama. David is the son of Daniel Bradford Merchant & Ruby Gray O'Mary Merchant. David married Kathleen Marie Gordon on September 4, 1966 in Marion County, Alabama. David & Kathy had three children: Tammy Marie, William David Merchant Jr. & Angela Dawn. David was a graduate of the police academy in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. David was a well known Deputy for the Lamar County Sheriff's Department from which he was retired. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. William David Merchant passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013. A wonderful and loving Husband, Father and Grandfather who is missed more than words could ever express.
