Gaines, Dr. George F. Dead - Thurs, 17 Feb 1910. Dr. George F. Gaines, who was sent from Madison to the asylum for the insane at Indianapolis about two weeks ago, died last Monday morning and and his remains were brought to Madison and interred Wednesday in the Springdale Cemetery. Dr. Gaines was for several years a citizen of Milton, where he practiced his profession, and was considered a splendid physician - possessing an unusually bright mind and splendid education. He was a frequent contributor to the NEWS, and his articles were always enjoyed by our readers. Being a member of one of the first families of Kentucky and Tennessee and a typical Southern gentleman, he was at one time quite prominent in his profession and also in politics. Only a few weeks ago his mind became impaired. It was hoped that by treatment at the institution to which he was taken he would be restored, but due to his advanced age and weakened condition of the body he was beyond the aid of skilled physicians. He leaves a wife and one son, William, who is about fourteen years of age.
