Services for Mrs. Mattie Gertrude Amason, 96, of Quitman were held at 2 p.m. Friday in Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Fred Morrow and Rev. Melvin Harrell officiating. Mrs. Amason died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 in Quitman. Burial was at Ebenezer Cemetery in Wood County.
Mrs. Amason was survived by 4 daughters, a sister, Leo Nall of Tallapoosa, GA, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was born in Tallapoosa, GA on July 4, 1907. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Amason in 1951; a son, Harlon Coggin, in 2002; and a grandson, Kelvin Coggin. She had been a resident of Quitman since 1935.
