He was the son of Johannes Strieter (1829-1920) and Elizabeth (Libby) Ernst (1838-1924)

Mr Strieter had taught in Lutheran parochial schools for 53 years 23 in Chicago. At the time of his death he was survived by five sons, Adolph, Edwin, Elmer, Martin and Carl, eight daughters, Mrs. Clara McCullough, Mrs Mathilda MacKay, Mrs Lydia Stone, Mrs Erna Downs, Mrs Flora Ludlum, Mrs Ellen Pentz, Mrs Marie Stauffer and Mrs Linda Norys, 31 Grand children and 22 Great grandchildren.

He married Johanna Sophia Dorothea Haben on July 19th , 1888 in Fairfield MN, they resided in Chicago in 1900, La Porte IN in 1910, Chicago in 1930, North Judson IN in 1940.
