Army PFC Miller was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Miller was killed by enemy indirect fire; a nearby mortar round. Anthony qualified for an early graduation in December 2001 from John Jay. Unsure of what to do with his life after high school, he enlisted in the Army in March 2002. Anthony saw an opportunity to better himself and to apply the skills he learned in the Army at a future point. Last fall, he visited his old school. He was so sharp and just looked so grown up. He had definitely found his niche. Anthony preferred to be a behind-the-scenes kind of guy, but in a letter home he said, ‘It looks like I'm going to be closer to the front lines than I ever thought.' As a 3rd Infantry Division soldier, Miller was trained to repair tank treads, a skill that took him deep into danger as the Army pushed into Iraq.United States Army Private First Class. Killed in action in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. he was from San Antonio Texas.
