Mr. Timothy "Tim" Gerald Cates, 69, of 3810 Michael Drive, Haw River died at his residence on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 5:00 a.m. following several years failing health.

Mr. Cates was born May 25, 1941 in Alamance County. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a retired High School Biology teacher from Southeast High School. He attended Greenway Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include his father Lester G. Cates, Jr.; his step-mother, Lucille Kilpatrick Cates; and his step-brother, James "Bubby" Kirkpatrick and wife June, all of Burlington and a special niece and caregiver, Susan Kirkpatrick Johnson of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Dixon Cates.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Tom Coble. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Graham on Thursday from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
