Samuel Heath, Sr., 92, of Port Arthur went to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his daughter's home surrounded by family. "Pete" as he was affectionately known was the first born to the union of Jacob and Mary Foots Heath, Jr. May 17,1920 .

Samuel attended public school in Goudeau and in 1942 went to serve in the U. S. Army, W.W.II with duty in India. He was honorably discharged in February 1946.

Samuel was an active outdoor person enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening and going to the Huntsville Rodeos. Samuel was employed with the Gulf Oil Corporation/Chevron now Valero retiring in 1985 with 39 years of service.

Samuel was a member of Friendship Church of God In Christ.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, step-mother, Leanna Heath, sisters, Ivory Roy and Celestine Wells, brother, Willie Heath and grandson Daryl M. Heath.

His precious memories will forever be cherished by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Mae and children Samuel & Patricia Heath, Jr., and Carolyn B. & Joseph W. Foster, Sr. Four grandchildren Joseph W. & Tara D. Foster, Jr., Christopher B. & Tiffany S. Foster, Shannon P. Heath and Brandi N. Heath. Five great grandchildren Christian, Torian and Kamden Foster and Johnny Washington and Thomas Cherry presently serving in the U.S. Navy. Three great-great grandchildren Destiny, Bayli and Cadence Washington.

Siblings include, three brothers, Curry, Elijah and Berry Heath; six sisters, Thelma Heath, Ida Wycoff, Betty Ethridge, Dorothy Allen, Rose Mary Shiloh and Elma Heath . One aunt, Preinkler Heath. Two devoted cousins, Earnest Dennis and Delia Spell.

A wake is scheduled at Hannah Funeral Home, 3727 Lewis Drive on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral services with visitation will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 1 pm, with vitiation at 11am until time of funeral at Barnett Chapel COGIC, 1749 Gulfway Dr. with the Supt. Eddie Toppen, Jr. of Houston officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Hannah Funeral Home.
