Funeral services for Ivan Wayne Mitchell, 77, of Emory were held May 10 at the House of Prayer Church in Emory with Bro. Kenneth Ishmael and Bro. James Mitchell officiating.
Interment followed in Greenview Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell died May 6, 2013, in Sulphur Springs. He was born in Emory, April 13, 1936, to S.P. and Lucinda York Mitchell. He married Peggy Beavers in Clovis, New Mexico, on October 27, 1956.
He was a member of the House of Prayer Church.
He worked as an electrican and was a member of the IBEW #59 for 55 years.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Mitchell of Emory; daughters, Karen Nalls and Kara Montoya, both of Emory; son, Manuel Montoya of Emory; brother, M. J. Mitchell and wife Barbara of Wills Point; sisters, Winona Risner and husband Leo of DeSoto, Loretta Snowden of Dallas and Dollie Sisk and husband Robert of Emory; grandchildren, Brooke Millican, Charlie Nalls, Leslee Arredondo, Melissa Eldridge, Hollie Kennedy; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laquetta Kennedy; brothers, Howard Mitchell and Grover Mitchell; sisters, Winifred Jones, Geraldine Risner, Louella Nichols and Evelene Mitchell.
Services were under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home of Emory.
