She was born in Lynn and was the daughter of the late John and Pauline (Wilson) Kennedy. She was educated in Swampscott schools and graduated from Swampscott High School, class of 1958.
She was employed at one time by General Electric Co. in Lynn, Avco and Hood Sailmakers. At one time she was the lead vocalist for the Jimmy Mosher Band, which performed at many local functions.
She was active in local charities and served as president of Salem Hospital Aid Association for two years. She was a gourmet chef and enjoyed gardening.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Christopher Hood of Marblehead; a daughter, Samantha Stephens of Bermuda; a stepson, Mark Steadman Hood of Amesbury; three grandchildren, Wilson Hood and Keeley Pauline Stephens, both of Bermuda, and Matthew Hood of Amesbury.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem, to be followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Marblehead. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
