He was born at Riviere-Ouelle, Kamouraska, Quebec. He was the son of Nicolas Basile Hudon Beaulieu & Marie-Josette Miville Bazil, and married Margaret Ogemaugeeeshigoquay (daughter of Waviishgaugauge or White Raven).

From 1804 to 1834 Bazil lived & traded around Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin and died at La Pointe (Madeline Island).

His children were: Margaret (1808-1896)[married Martin Bisson], Julie (born about 1811 and died about 1903)[married Charles H. Oakes], Clement H.(1811-1893)[married Elizabeth Farling], Hypolite, Sophia (born about 1820)[married George M. Henderson], Paul H.(1820-1897)[married Mariah], Abraham H. (1822-1844)[married Angelica Lacombe], Catherine (1829-1902)[married Robert P. Fairbanks], Henry B. (born 1829)[married Josette Belanger] & Elizabeth (born 1837)[married Charles Borup].
