Ruth E. DIVEN, 83. of Burnt Cabins, R.R., died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at
her home in Dublin Township, Huntingdon County. Born June 4, 1919, in
Burnt Cabins, she was a daughter of the late Frank R. and Ellie E.
(Kelley) Morrow. She was first married to Reuben R. Diven who preceded
her in death in 1978. She then married James Diven, who preceded her in
death in 1982. Two daughters and one son survive; Mrs. Merrill G.
(Shirley) Stevens, Annville; Mrs. C. Dale (Sylvia) Fleck, Phoenixville;
and Gary L. Diven, Lancaster. One stepson, James Diven of Warminster,
also survives. There are seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren,
14 great-grandchildren, one step great-grandson and one
great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by three brothers,
four sisters and one stepdaughter, Barbara Cassidy. Mrs. Diven was a
member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Shade Gap, R.R. She
was a member of Tuscarora Grange No. 24, Shade Gap; Southern Huntingdon
County Farm Women and the Shade Gap Area Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies
Auxiliary. She was a past president of Shade Gap Area Senior Citizens.
She had been employed as a cook with the Head Start Program, Fort
Littleton. Previously she had been employed by Menno Haven Nursing Home,
Chambersburg, and the Shirley Home for the Aged, Shirleysburg, as a
nurses aide; and had also worked for the former L. Greif Brothers
Manufacturing, Mount Union. Funeral services will he held at 10:30 am.
Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with
the Rev. Belvy C. White officiating. Interment will be made at Pleasant
Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap, RR.
