Sheila Kaye Richards passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at her home in Lake City surrounded by her family. She was 65.

Sheila was born on July 25, 1947, a daughter of Robert and Nettie Jane (Rickard) Mosher. She graduated from Lake City High School in 1965 and married Denny Richards in July of 1966. Aside from being a devoted wife and mother, she also spent 23 years working at Rexair of Cadillac before retiring in 2006. Much of her time was spent with her beloved family and friends attending bowling tournaments, car shows and nights out dancing and listening to her son's band. She absolutely loved soaking up the sunshine, boating and watching the sunsets from her home on beautiful Lake Missaukee. She founded the Lake City Car Show in 1996 as a tribute to her late husband.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Denny Richards, in 1995; her parents, Robert and Nettie Jane Mosher; and in-laws, Elmer and Bernice Richards.

Sheila's legacy was her family: her son, Denny Richards II of Traverse City; her daughters, Miranda Dykhouse of Lake City, Rebecca Richards of Lexington, Ky.; granddaughter, Victoria Dykhouse; sister, Sandy Sorenson of Grand Rapids; and brother, Rick (Jackie) Mosher of Ashley; brother-in-law, Mike (Hannah) Acey of Martinez, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Sheila's home at 407 S. Lakeshore Drive in Lake City. There will be a greet-the-family gathering with dessert provided at 7 p.m. followed by a sunset memorial service at 9 p.m. in the gazebo. Mike Dunn be will be officiating.

Sheila's wishes were to be cremated and funeral arrangements are being handled by her classmate and longtime friend, Keith D. Burkholder, Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain. 231-825-8191.
