She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a charter member of Hayti
Calvary Baptist Church. She was also a member of Delta Rho Chapter Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years. She was co-owner and bookkeeper for Flowers by Sanders and a member of the Hayti R-II school board for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading, politics, history, sports and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Alexander and Alice Vernisha Sutton Eledge; her husband, Harvey Curtis Sanders; two brothers, John H. and Robert Eledge; and one sister, Geraldine Eledge Reid.
She leaves the following to cherish her memory: her son and daughter-in-law, Curt and Kathy Sanders; her daughter and son-in-law, Jeri Claire and Tommy Crowder of Hayti; grandson, Curt Sanders II and his wife, Beth, of Jonesboro, Ark.; two great-granddaughters, Kaylie and Lauren; sister-in-law, Peggy Sanders; and a host of nephews, nieces and many, many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, with the Rev. Doug Wahls officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti. Pallbearers were Mike Thomas, Mike King, John Sanders, Travis Sanders, Kenneth Hunt and Bill Crowdner.
