Don Hugh Chapman
September 30, 1933 - May 12, 2013
Don Hugh Chapman, 79, of Martinsville died Sunday May 12, 2013 at the Blue Ridge Rehab in Martinsville. He was born in Salisbury, North Carolina on September 30, 1933 the son of the late Charlie Chapman and the late Maudie Chapman. In addition he was preceded in death by brothers Irvin, Elbert Chapman and sisters Hazel Curlee, Lucille Berranger, Ruth Hand and Louise Shuping. Don was a member of Valley Drive Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was known to the community as running the Valley Drive Save Station.

Surviving his loving wife of 60 years Marie Chapman of the home, daughter, Debbie Richardson and husband, Ricky of Fieldale, son Ronald Chapman and wife, Laura of Collinsville. In addition he is survived by grandchildren Scott Richardson and wife Amy, Geoffrey Richardson, Adam Chapman and Parker Chapman and four great grandchildren, Colby, Landon, Noah and Christian Richardson. Also surviving one sister Margie Miller of Ft. Walton Beach Florida. Visitation will be Wednesday May 15 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with funeral services to follow at 4:00 with Rev. Bobby Rakes officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with full military honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard of Martinsville and Henry County.
