Services for Juan Jose Alafa 45, of Lubbock will be Wednesday May 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Andres Mendoza officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Friends are invited to join the family in praying the Holy Rosary on Tuesday May 14, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in Guajardo Funeral Chapels. John, as he was affectionately known, passed into the waiting arms of Jesus on May 12, 2013 surrounded by family. He was born September 28, 1967 in Lubbock. John graduated from Lubbock High and attended Texas Tech. He also received his Executive Chef degree from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts School in Austin, TX. He worked for the Upper Crust catering in Tulsa, OK, and for Big E's Barbeque in Lubbock. John is survived by his father, Jose Alafa, and his mother and step-father, Victoria and Frank Villarreal, all of Lubbock; his daughter, Cristian Raine Scott from Odessa; sisters, Linda Rogers (Troy) of Sapulpa, OK, and C.C. Ray of Tulsa, OK; brothers, Roy Alafa and Ramiro Alafa, both of Lubbock; step-brothers, Orlando Villarreal (Nora) from Saginaw and Art Villarreal from Lubbock; and step-sister, Sona Styles (Adam) from the U.K. John also leaves behind his aunts and uncles, his beloved nieces and nephews, and not to forget his many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jose Alafa, Jr. and Tibursia Alafa; maternal grandparents, Nicolas and Beatrice Argullin; and his beloved brother, Hector Birdie Villarreal, who passed in 2005.
