EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Randall "Gene" Collins, 83, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Pine Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Gene was born in Central City, Ky., on Sept. 16, 1929. He was a deacon and Sunday school superintendent of United General Baptist Church.
Gene retired from Whirlpool Corp. in 1990, after 38 years of service.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and his pet cats.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mittie (Reed) Collins; son, Randall "Randy" (Dixie) Collins Jr.; sister Glenda Sue (Lester) Garrett; grandson, Jeff Allen (Amy) Collins; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Cody Adler; and one great-great-grandchild on the way, all of Evansville, Ind.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Zelma and Aubry Collins, and the mother who raised him, Erma (Hinton) Collins; infant daughters Gloria Dean and Connie Aline Collins; sisters Earline Mayes and Ruth Ann Burdick.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Fairmont Cemetery in Central City, Ky.
Visiting hours were Monday, May 13, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, Ind., 47711.
