Rosalia "Rose" Drevo-Aksamit was actually born on June 26th, 1867 in the small village of Slapy, house #18, near Tabor in South Bohemia. I have a copy of her birth/baptism record from the parish church in the Czech Republic. She was the 4th child of 11 total to be born to Jan "John" Drevo and Rosalia "Rosa" Podhrazsky-Drevo. Only 7 of the 11 grew to adulthood. Rose was baptized on the 27th of June 1867 at the Roman Catholic Church, Kostel Nejsvetejsi Trojice (Church of the Holy Trinity), in Malsice, near Slapy.

Rosalia and her family traveled from Slapy, Bohemia to the port at Hamburg, Germany on their quest to come to America. They left Hamburg on 10-25-1881 on the ship named Flamingo. They had a stop over in Hull, England then had to make their way over, across land, to the port in Liverpool to catch the next ship, Scythia, for their final destination, the Port of New York. The Drevo family arrived in NY on 11-9-1881. They made their way to Nebraska!

On September 21, 1886, Rosalia "Rose" married Anton J. Aksamit in Wilber, Nebraska. They made their home in Crete, Nebraska where they had 12 children. One child, Lucy, died at age 11.

In 1917, Rose's brother, Josef (my great great grandfather) died (we believe drowned himself on the 1 yr anniv. of the death of his wife Mary Kubicek-Drevo and daughter, Annie.) He left 4 small children, some of which came to be raised and live with Rose and Anton, including my grand father, Joseph Drevo. He was 11 years old... the oldest of the kids left behind.

Rose died in Crete, Nebraska on Jan. 18 1954. She was 86 years old. Her husband died 11 years earlier.
