Alvin Wesley Ammerman of 6 West Halley Street, Mount Union, died this morning, Wednesday, July 3, 1963, at 2 a.m. in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. He had been a patient there since June 8. Mr. Ammerman had been in failing health for several months.
He was born February 15, 1889, in McAlisterville, a son of Wesley and Leah (Emminheizer) Ammerman and was twice married.
Mr. Ammerman is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Ammerman; the following children from the first marriage: Kohler and Stewart Ammerman, Lewistown, and Ray Ammerman, Mifflintown; one daughter, Mrs. David (Grace) Knox, Mount Union, from the second union; and two step children; Charles Watts and Mrs. John (Myrtle) Pyle, both of Mount Union. There are nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Ammerman is also survived by two sisters: Mrs. George Snyder of St. Paul, Minn. and Mrs. Elliott McCallister of Gainesville, Missouri.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Mount Union and the Men’s Bible Class of the church. He retired in 1951 from the Harbison-Walker Refractories Company.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, July 6, at 2 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Mount Union. The Rev. James W. Matz will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Union IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon on Friday, July 5, until the time of the services on Saturday.
