Daughter of Claude and Florence Jenney, who would grow up to become what today we would call a supermodel. Shortly after Dana graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1931, she began doing some modeling for photographers and department store in Cleveland. Success there quickly propelled her to New York City. From 1932 to about 1945 Jenney was one of the top-photographed models in the country. Dana appeared on the covers of all of America's top major fashion magazines during her career, and traveled the world to pose for photographs. While residing in New York City, she met and married a wealthy businessman, which led to a life of luxury that was worlds away from those humble origins in Shenandoah, Ohio. Dana was nearly six feet tall and had a lanky frame, ideal for modeling. Arthur O'Neill, a prominent fashion photographer of that time, named Dana one of the top 10 models of the country in 1937. He told the Associated Press that women from the Midwest made the best models. "They may not look prettier, but for camera purposes, they've got more natural beauty," he said. In the early 1940's, Dana married industrialist George Anton Horvath. The pair had homes in New York, Long Island, Miami, London and the French Riviera. They even owned his-and-her yachts. Dana and her husband had one daughter, Paget, and after Horvath died in 1990, Dana and her daughter moved to Arizona, along with 12 Labrador retrievers and 30 cats. Dana Jenney is buried in Shenandoah Christian Church cemetery alongside her parents.*********** Dana J Horvath, "United States Social Security Death Index"
