"Shasta, Apr 10th - Honorable E. Garter, one of the oldest and most esteemed citizens of Shasta, died last evening. Mr. Garter was a prominent lawyer of California and for many years occupied the position of Judge of the Ninth Judicial District with credit. The deceased was a native of New York, 71 years of age. The remains will be taken to Sacramento."
