An accountant, Ledford's 50+ year career included working for a finance company and keeping records for Villa Capri Motel. He then worked at the State Comptroller's office in the Franchise Tax Division for several years before leaving to begin his own private practice of bookkeeping/tax preparation.
At the age of 13, Ledford became a Christian on July 26, 1941 when he was baptized for the remission of his sins.
Ledford and Nellie Grace Gilbert were married on October 17, 1954 at the home of his parents. God blessed the couple with four children ~ Barton, David, Trelanie and Carol ~ in addition to six beautiful grandchildren.
Ledford loved Southern Gospel music and had a God-given talent of writing songs and playing the piano by ear. He could hear a song one time, sit down at the piano and play the tune as though he had practiced for many hours. He also taught several shaped-note music classes to church members.
The last 15 years of his life, Ledford entertained at Austin area assisted living centers and nursing homes; singing and playing the keyboard ~ secular and Gospel music ~ spreading a little sunshine to those who were in their golden years.
