Donald F. Childs Jr. of Royse City passed away December 26, 2008, at the age of 62. He was born in Springfield, Vermont, on March 16, 1946, the son of Dorothy Farnsworth Barrows and Donald F. Childs Sr.

He retired from IBM, Kingston, N.Y., after 30 years of service. He resided in Margaretville, N.Y., until 1995 when he and his family moved to Mesquite, Texas. He then worked as a private investigator for 10 years until his retirement last year.

Donald was an avid NASCAR fan, hunter and golfer.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, step-dad Warren Barrows and grandson Esai George.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Denise B. Childs; and six children, stepson and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kelli George of Gainesville, Va., son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Jacky Childs of Poland, Maine, stepson and daughter-in-law, Dean and Rita George of Corpus Christi, Texas, son and daughter-in-law, Mark Sara Childs of Raymond, Maine, daughter Dianna Childs of Richardson, Texas, son Donald P. Childs of Royse City, Texas; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Barrows of Springfield, Vt., and Warren Childs of Wallkill, N.Y.; sister Marie Earle of Camillus, N.Y.; along with nieces and nephews.
