Katherine Clay Holcomb, 93, passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, May 12, 2013, at Hempstead Manor, following an extended illness.
She was born June 19, 1919, in Greenup County, KY., daughter of the late Russell Clay and Nannie Barnhardt Clay.
She was a former employee of Williams Shoe Factory of Portsmouth, OOH., and was a faithful member of Firebrick Christian Baptist Church for several years as the
oldest member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Holcomb of 58 years in September of 1991, a son, Paul Eugene Holcomb in 2002, her brothers, Russell (Buddy), John Henry, Edsel, Billy Ray, Donald and Terry Clay, sisters, Adeline, Yvonne Clay, a great-granddaughter, Kystral Litteral.
She is survived by a daughter, Juanita (George) Bond of St. Paul, KY., two sons, Ellis (Phyllis) Holcomb of South Shore, KY., and Bill (Pat) Holcomb of Douglasville, GA., two sisters, Dorothy Oney of Las Vegas, NV., and Beverly Jo (Jim) Reeder of South Portsmouth, KY., two brothers, Ronald (Nevadean) Clay of Vista, CA., and Willard Clay of West Portsmouth, OH., 15 grandchildren, 19 great-
grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She leaves behind several good friends, especially Pauline Cordelle, who was more like a sister.
Funeral service at the Firebrick Christian Baptist Church in Firebrick, KY., with Rev. Raymond Lewis officiating. Burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery, South Shore, KY.
