JAMES L. CURRIE
James L. Currie, 74, of Oxford Junction, died Friday, November 20, 1987 at Finley Hospital in Dubuque.
He was born March 4, 1913 at Oxford Junction, the son of Odvillo and Celesta Clapp Currie. James was raised in the Baldwin area and graduated from Baldwin High School.
He farmed south of Baldwin for several years before beginning work at the Clinton Engine Co. of Maquoketa. For the next 21 years, James lived on the farm near Baldwin and worked at Clinton Engine Co.
On October 16, 1965 he married Mary Hults at Maquoketa and in 1969 they moved to Oxford Junction.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, one daughter, Connie, Mrs. Robert Yarolem of Baldwin; one stepson William Hults of Anamosa; two stepdaughters, June, Mrs. Robert Peterson of Des Moines, and Betty, Mrs. Robert Hora of Anamosa; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Franck of Maquoketa, and Thelma, Mrs. Lumir Vacek of Thompson, Ill.; four grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, and four step-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 23, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hayden Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, with burial in Pence Cemetery near Baldwin.
The Rev. Glenn Bailey of Faith Methodist Church officiated. Pallbearers were James Yarolem, Randall Yarolem, Rusty Yarolem, Royce Currie, Allen Currie and Gale Currie.
