Daughter of James Foster and Esther Lee who were married in Wooler, Northumberland June 1770. Mary had siblings- Elizabeth, William, and James Foster. Her sister, Elizabeth Foster, married Robert Sudden, brother of John Sudden, Mary's husband. After Mary Foster's death this stone was erected by John Sudden before immigrating to Canada in memory of Mary and three of their children James (1801-03), Thomas (1812-13),and Thomas who died in 1815.
