Pvt. Watt enlisted in the US Army at Newport, PA on Sept. 14, 1861, he mustered in on Sept. 19, 1861. He was with Co. H, 47th Regt., Pa. Inf. Pvt. Watt mustered out Feb. 13, 1862 in Key West, FL.

Private Frederick Watt/Watts died of pneumonia at the regimental hospital in Key West (Fort Taylor). His death was certified by Elisha W. Baily, M.D., one of the 47th's surgeons.
He was first interred at Key West Barracks, and with many others later re interred at Barrancas National Cemetery.
