Cheryl James Hughes, 54, of Amarillo, died Sunday, May 12, 2013.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Claude Church of Christ with Dr. Shawn Johnson, minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Hughes was born on November 16, 1958 in Amarillo, Texas to Ruby and Leon James. She went to school in Claude and had lived in Amarillo for 30 years. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her parents, Leon and Ruby James of Claude, Texas; a daughter, Winter Speakman of Amarillo; her former husband, Steve Hughes of Amarillo; a brother Larry D. James of Amarillo; three sisters, Dolores Layman of Neosho, Missouri; Vikki English of Wichita Falls, Texas; and Jackie Knapp of Amarillo; and five grandchildren, Cole, Lani, Callie, Gwen and Brooklyn.
The family suggests memorial to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th Street, 8th floor, New York, NY 10022.
