Rev. Robert Shaw died of paralysis at his home in Long Lake, NY Thursday morning, Sept. 19, 1907 aged 78 years. The deceased was an old landmark, he being one of the oldest settlers and builders of Long Lake, where in former years he sufferd the hardship of a pioneer life. Mr. Shaw was a Wesleyan Methodist minister, having preached in various places for over fifty years. Was of strong constitution and of Irish descent, yet when the allotted time was up the cord was broken. Funeral services were held at the W M Church on Sunday morning. Rev. Mr. Allen officiated, assisted by Rev. C E. Fox and Rev V. Wright. Text Phillippians first chapter, last clause of the 21st verse, "to die is gain".
It is said that the congregation was the largest ever assembled in that place. Among those present from out of town were P. Moynehan of Glens Falls; D. Bissell of Tupper Lake, W.H. Shaw, a brother of deceased; from VT; Ransom Palmer and family from a western state; W. Chase, G. B. Ward and wife; S. Parker and wife; J. H. Wilcox and wife and several others from Newcomb and I Sabattis and family of Whitney Park. Interment was in Long Lake Cemetery.
