Ina Gertrude J. Hardee, age 83, wife of the late John Perry Hardee, Jr., of Hwy. 905, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Conway Medical Center.
Mrs. Hardee was born February 24, 1930 in Conway, a daughter of the late Troy and Ida Hardee Johnson. She was a member of Kingston Baptist Church and loved her church family. Mrs. Hardee was owner and operator of Hardee's Convenience Store from 1946-1984. She sold Home Interior and Avon and loved gardening. Mrs. Hardee was predeceased by one son, Kenny James Hardee, three brothers, Baynard Johnson, Edward Johnson and Ben Johnson, three sisters, Linda Todd, Mary Lebrillo and Evelyn J. Shelley. Mrs. Hardee had a kind gentle heart and a loving spirit. She loved her family and instilled into them many values. She lived for those she loved and left behind an example to follow.
Surviving are five sons, John Perry Hardee, III (Diane) and Larry W. Hardee (Jeanne) all of Aynor, Jerry W. Hardee (Lill), Ricky E. Hardee and Mike Hardee (Donna) all of Conway, one daughter, Brenda H. Sessions (Dock) of Johnsonville, one daughter-in-law, Beverly Hardee 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, four sisters, Anne Dusenbury, Virgie Scirigione, Carolyn Bundy and Margaret Paul, one brother, Roger Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Kingston Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Black officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
