Mrs Minnie (Longlois) Olds, 77, wife of Stephen J Olds, died at 7 a.m. Monday at the Burnett nursing home, after an illness of two years.

The family home is at 412 Cincinnati Street. Mrs Olds was the oldest granddaughter of Peter Longlois, famous Indian personage for whom Longlois reserve, in the northeast section of the city, and beyond, was named. Longlois school also bears his name. Mrs Olds father was Peter L, one of the city’s pioneer bakers. She was born in the 500 block on North fourth street, and later moved with the family to Dayton where she attended school. Fifty-eight years ago, on Feb 6, 1884, she married Mr Olds at the First Baptist church here. The father of Mr Olds, William V Olds, steered the first canal boat into Lafayette on the Wabash and Erie Canal, carrying freight. She was a member of The Baptist Church and Woodmen Circle.

Surviving are the husband: two daughters, Mrs W H Platt, of Renseelaer, and Mrs J B Smith, of Portland Oregan, also a son, Francis Olds of this city. Friends may call at the Bradshaw funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday. Services there Wednesday at 2:30. Rev W H Nibeliak officiating, burial in Greenbush Cemetery.
