Alexander was a Second Lieutenant in the 2/5th Battalion Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry.

He was 36 and the son of Frederick Henry & Eliza (WILLETT)Alderson. Alex Alderson,formerly a Master at Sherbourne, was killed in Grantham, Lincolnshire during bombing practice with the Machine Gun Corps. He was at Oxford and took Holy Orders before proceeding to Sherbourne.

Education at Epsom College. Exhibitioner of Jesus College, Oxford; second class honours in the Oxford Mathematics School in 1903; rowed in the college boat and won an 'oar' in the Eights week in 1903. Took holy orders in the Scottish Episcopal Church and was ordained by the Bishop of Southwark in 1904.
