Sidney arrived in Eston Saskatchewan from Chatham, Ontario in spring of 1916. He began by working on his brother Henry's homestead while he applied for one of his own. He succeeded in doing so and also help run Henry's homestead following his death in September 1915. Sidney was regarded as a fine young member of the community and everyone was devastated when he drowned with two other friends in the Saskatchewan River not far from his home. This was the second brother that Emma Willmore Wilson had to send home to Chatham for burial.
