Catcher in Major League Baseball. He played for the Milwaukee Grays in 1878 and the Worcester Ruby Legs. Bennett played eight seasons with the Detroit Wolverines from 1881-1888. His last five major league seasons with the Boston Beaneaters. He lost his 15 year career after a train accident in 1894 which forced him to lose both of his legs.
