Sarah Louise "Dolly" Bryan is my g-grandmother on the maternal side. She bore five children in Shelby county. They were Robert A.,Sydney, John Thomas, Annie and Gracey Bryan. They lived in the community around Bethany. In the early 1900's the area had it's own post office which was housed in Dolly's store and her son, John, was the first postmaster. She was the grandmother of Elmo, Ruth, and Roy Bryan and helped care for the young children when their mother, Lula(wife of Robert A.) died in 1898. Sarah was widowed when John died in 1912. She married Joseph Staton Hooker when they were in their late seventies.
