Delores “Lori” Ann Mead was born to Wilke and Mildred (Habben) Habben on March 23, 1940 on the family farm near Burchard, Minnesota. When she was eight years old, she moved with her parents to a farm near Balaton, Minnesota where she was raised and attended school, graduating from high school in Ruthton, Minnesota in 1958. On March 28, 1964, she was united in marriage to Dennis Mead at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived in Pipestone, Minnesota. In her younger years, she worked at Armours as well as Pipestone Marine. She then became employed at Fey Industries where she was a supervisor until she left in 1980 due to ill health. From the early 1990s until 1996, she served as city clerk in Woodstock, Minnesota. In 1996, they moved to Ruthton where they currently resided. She entered the heart hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Tuesday, February 5, 2002 to undergo bypass surgery.

Lori was a member of the Ruthton United Methodist church in Ruthton, Minnesota where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She thoroughly enjoyed being with her grandchildren. Each one of the grandchildren had a special name for grandma and, likewise, Lori had a special name for them. She enjoyed reading as well as camping, doing crossword puzzles, and playing solitaire and computer games.
