Actor. Best known as creator of the theatrical mask of Harlequin. He was an acclaimed actor and Capo Comico in Italian theater companies engaged in major European tours in the late sixteenth century and first decades of the seventeenth century. According to historians he influenced in a decisive way the birth and development of the Commedia dell'Arte with his strong personality and his gestural technique.
