Edna Virginia Howard Shaver, 64, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 1, 2003, at her residence in Decatur. She was a devoted mother and was loved dearly by her children.
She was a member of the Big Springs Church of Christ and the Meigs County Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Cecil Stokes Howard; one brother, Ronnie Howard; two sisters, Rose Scroggins and Tip Malone; and one son, Tommy Lee Shaver.

Survivors include her husband, James Shaver of Decatur; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Brenda Shaver of Decatur, David and Margie Shaver of Athens, and Travis and April Shaver of Decatur; eight brothers, Rosco Howard, Donnie Howard and William Howard, all of Cleveland, Junior Howard of Decatur, Edward Howard of Chattanooga, Pete Howard of Decatur, Ira Howard of Decatur, and Jessie Ray Howard of Birchwood; three sisters, Willie Womack of Birchwood, Christine Thompson of Decatur, and Liza Covey of Athens; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Max Redman officiating. Burial will be in the Beta Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Bowers Funeral Home of Decatur is in charge of arrangements.
