Mrs. J. P. Hamon of Ripley Dies
Mrs. Arena Ellen Hamon, 85, of Ripley, a lifelong resident of Jackson county, died yesterday morning in a Charleston hospital after a long illness. She leaves 98 direct descendants.
Born at Advent on April 3, 1866, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Henry Siders.
Mrs. Hamon was a member of the Advent Christian church and had been a member of the Rebekah lodge at Advent. Her husband, Joseph P. Hamon, died several years ago.
Surviving are three sons, Ova M. Hamon of Ripley, Glen Hamon of Perrysville, La., and Guy Hamon of Newtry, Mich.; four daughters, Mrs. Lilly M. Skeens and Mrs. Hattie A. Jordon, both Ripley, Mrs. Iva H. Parsons of Kenna, and Mrs. Martha Hamon of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, George N. Siders of Buffalo, Charley Siders of Advent and Joseph Siders of Charleston; one sister, Mrs. Lydia Kiser of Charleston; 41 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. in the church at Ripley with Rev. Cecil Noble and Rev. George Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Hamon cemetery near Advent under direction of Parsons mortuary of Ripley. The body is at the home of Mrs. Lilly Skeens in Ripley and will be placed in the church an hour before service.
