Aged Bellflower Lady
The funeral services for Mrs. Newton Jenkins, who passed away at 10:30 o'clock Sunday evening at her home in Bellflower, were held here yesterday.
Surena Shivilar was born March 21, 1850, in Washington, Ill., and spent the early years of her life there. She was married on Aug. 23, 1867, in Peoria to Newton Jenkins, who preceded her in death in 1908. They moved to Bellflower in 1872, where she had since resided.
Eleven children were born to the union, ten of whom survive: Minnie Beaman of Bloomington, Ind., John E. Jenkins of Decatur, Mrs. Henry F. Innis of Bloomington, Phoebe Miller of Arrowsmith, Mattie Sartain of Portland, Ore., Clara Innis of Saybrook, Clark E. Jenkins of Elliott, Walter Jenkins of New York City, and Newton and Wesley Jenkins at home.
