Esther was born April 20, 1919, in Jefferson County, Ky., to the late John and Mary Krages.
Growing up in Louisville, she was active in the local 4-H Club where she learned to quilt and crochet, earning many award ribbons. While living in Maryland, she worked for the University of Maryland and the telephone company. She was a life member of American Legion Post 217 in College Park.
After retirement she moved to Inverness and became an active member of the local Civilian Conservation Corps chapter, serving as secretary and president. Later, she became active in Hospice.
Esther made many beautiful crochet pieces and taught crochet classes for over 30 years. She attended First Presbyterian Church of Inverness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hughart in 1998.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Davies officiating. Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Monday morning in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Ocala.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2 p.m., until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials requested to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464, (866-642-0962).
